French street artist Marchal Mithouard (aka Shaka) takes an abstract look at the human form in elaborate paintings and murals which break down physiology into undulating forms whose colors and implied movements are used to convey the emotion, duality and cognitive dissonance of human existence.
The subjects in these paintings are at the forefront of his visual research into the uncertainty principle of quantum mechanics, where particles become waves depending on the act of observation. It’s as if the artist is looking at people in terms of energy, rather than matter, which is evident in more passionate pieces where patterns move wildly and deviate beyond the body’s natural borders.
Some paintings are quite detailed, giving off an almost fractal appearance, but the abstraction is always there, swimming beneath the surface and inviting the user to see a different, more animated spectrum of reality.
